Coffee Break Verse: "The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights." -Habakkuk 3:19
It's a new day, friend and on this day, I’m thinking about strength—true strength that comes from God. Life has its way of presenting us with challenges that can sometimes feel like too much to handle on our own. When those moments come, I pull out my Bible and search for powerful verses like today's verse from Habakkuk 3:19. We can be assured that our strength doesn’t have to come from within ourselves. If we had to deal with everything based on our ability, we would fizzle out, really quick. Instead, we can look to the Sovereign Lord whose Spirit energizes and empowers us to do the work He's called us to. Read the first part of this verse with me:
"The Sovereign Lord is my strength."
Does this comfort you, spiritually and mentally? If you have something to do today that seems challenging and it's making you weary, know that I’ve had those days too. In fact, I HAVE those days. Days where tasks and responsibilities feel overwhelming. But Habakkuk 3:19 tells us that God Himself is our strength. He doesn’t just give us strength—He is our strength. When we rely on Him, we’re tapping into a spiritual power that goes beyond what we could ever muster on our own. Here's proof of the power of His strength:
"He makes my feet like the feet of a deer."
I love how this part of the verse gives us the picture of being sure-footed. God makes us steady and gives us the ability to walk through difficulties without stumbling. He doesn’t promise that everything we face in life will be easy, but He does promise to guide our steps and give us what we need to keep going. He even speaks to us and instructs us daily on what to do, how to live, what to let go, what to take on, so that we can avoid the pitfalls that come when we rely solely on our own strength. If you still need reassuring, then let's read the last part of this verse:
"He enables me to tread on the heights."
This is the kind of victory God brings! Even when we feel like we’re walking uphill, God has a way of enabling us to keep moving strong, one step at a time. And before we know it, we’re standing in places we never thought we could reach! That’s the beauty of trusting in God’s divine strength. He leads us to heights we could never get to on our own in life, both spiritually and naturally.
More Than a Latte
God is faithful in every season in your life. He doesn’t just offer to walk with us spiritually; having a relationship with Him means He equips us to go through hardships with strength and confidence. We don’t have to struggle by ourselves, wondering if we’ll make it through the storms of life. God gives us strength that carries us, day by day, and compels us to walk in victory.
I’m encouraged to know that even when the paths of my life are a bit tough, God will help me stand firm. I pray that today, you'll also remember that you don’t have to face your struggles relying solely on your own strength. You have a God who loves you, who strengthens you, and who leads you.
Coffee Time Prayer
Lord, I want to thank You for being my strength when I feel weak. Right now, where I'm at in my situation, I choose to lean on You and trust that You will guide my steps. Help me learn how to trust You more and to know that You are with me in every challenge I face. Thank You for the victory You bring and for lifting me up to places I could never reach on my own. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today’s Challenge
Pause whenever you feel overwhelmed and pray this simple prayer: "Lord, be my strength today." Then put your belief into action and trust God! Trust that He is equipping you with wisdom and power to handle whatever comes your way.
If you want to go deeper in trusting the Lord, read Psalm 18:33, which is another great reminder that God makes us steady: “He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.”
Let's talk about it! What’s one area of your life where you need to trust God’s strength instead of relying on your own?
I'd love to hear from you! I hope you'll share your thoughts in the comments.
