Today a Bible verse really resonated with me and I want to share Psalm 18:2 with you. Have you ever felt like everything around you was falling apart, and you needed something solid to stand on? In reading this verse, I recognized that was exactly where David was when he wrote Psalm 18. His life was threatened, and his enemies were stronger than him. But instead of giving in to fear, he turned to God as his rock, fortress, and deliverer. David teaches us that God doesn’t just give us strength, He is our strength.
What’s Happening in This Verse
Psalm 18 is a song of praise David wrote after God rescued him from Saul and his enemies. By calling God his rock, fortress, and deliverer, David paints a picture of a God who doesn’t change, who shields us from harm, and who steps in to save us when we can’t save ourselves.
When our lives feel hard and complicated, we don’t have to look for stability in people, money, or your own abilities. God wants us to lean on Him as our rock. He is stronger than our fears and bigger than what’s against us. He wants us to practice trusting Him to protect us and lead us out of what seems impossible.
